Species of dolphin are highly considered the most intelligent. Due to their high self-regulation, decision-making skills, and ability to communicate with each other, dolphins have been the other smartest animals behind humans.
Recently, a pod of dolphins saved the life of a swimmer who was lost in the sea, by alerting the rescue.
Participants from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a charity lifeboat service that works across the UK, recently rescued a man from the sea near Castlegregory in County Kerry, Ireland, but they say they got a crucial assist from some very odd observer.
In the report of BBC, the lifeboat crew mottled a pod of dolphins in the water, drawing their attention to a man struggling in the water.
The bottlenose dolphins were encircling the man as if to consciously alert the crew to the man in need of rescuing. Without them, they would likely never spotted him.
“The casualty was conscious and immediately recovered onto the lifeboat and brought Fenit Harbour to be taken to hospital,” the RNLI said, according to BBC.
Apparently, the man had been missing for 12 hours and was very tired. You can easily imagine how things could’ve gone tragically wrong if he had not found in time.
In recent years, Bottlenosed dolphins have been waved off on the banks of Ireland. Researchers are sure this pod mates and breeds in Scotland.
But we are not damen sure what the dolphins were thinking about. Perhaps it was a twist of fate, or maybe the dolphins just inquisitively noticed a man who had entered in their water.
But being ”surprisingly highly intelligent” it can’t be ignored that they really want the attention of the crew to the man.
In any respect, man is safe thanks to them.
No doubt the dolphins are unbelievable animals. This story is evidence of their extraordinary intelligence. They saved a life very smartly.
